Their life sounds just
like the plot of a tear-jerking Hollywood film. Twin sisters, Margaret
and Brenda Carpenter, were parted at the age of three, when their family
fell apart, and brought up by separate pairs of grandparents. They did
not meet again until they were seven, when they attended their mother's
funeral. Amazingly they bumped into each other again seven years later,
and resolved then to write to each other almost daily, exchanging
stories and poems. They invented a secret country, in which they lived
