This is not a
history of the Royal Russell School from 1980-1996 but a very personal
account of the life that Ron Balaam and his wife Shirley led during the time
when he was Headmaster. There was a rude awakening in store when they
wrenched themselves away from a very happy and fulfilled life among friends
and colleagues at Lancing College. Without the support and
encouragement of two distinguished Governors it is unlikely that he would
have survived to become the second longest serving Headmaster in the
school's history.
With a foreword written by Ian Beer, former
Head Master of Ellesmere College, Lancing College and Harrow School, this is
a cautionary tale for anyone aspiring to Headship.
With 16 pages of colour
photographs.
